General Links

The Register

The Register is an online technology newspaper. Its cynical approach and witty writing makes it a refreshing change from some of the drier news sources one the web. Make sure you check out the weekly BOFH column - we've all wanted to go to the extremes that this fictional character does on a daily basis!

TextPad

Textpad is a shareware programmers editor. If you're not working in an IDE it's well worth a try

Tiny URL

This site allows you to encode any url as a "TinyUrl". All you do is enter your (long) URL and it will generate something like tinyurl.com/7yu2t. This site is most useful for email long URLs when they may otherwise get chopped up by mail servers / clients.

Cl1p.net

Even wanted to transfer a URL, a GUID or some other long text string from one machine to another? This site makes it really easy by acting as an internet clipboard. Add a name to the end of the URL (which uses the digit 1 instead of an i in clip) and you get your own clipboard (e.g. http://www.cl1p.net/infinite). Paste in some text and then go to the same URL from another machine and you'll see the text. You can also use this site to transfer whole files but be careful - your data isn't protected with a password so anyone can see it.

StatCounter

The best free web traffic analysis I've seen. No counters, links or images on your page, just a little javascript on each page and it generates loads of useful statistics.
